Assorted Melons
Meg made a tremendous pulled pork this weekend, absolutely delicious. While shopping, I noticed a display of “Assorted Melons”. Who can resist a sign like that? I bought three of them and they were delicious. I’m not exactly sure what varieties we had, but here’s my best guess:
1) Seedless icebox watermelon – probably the black diamond variety.
2) Amarillo Oro – very sweet and firm
3) Sweet Barcelona hybrid – sweet green fruit, not at all like a honeydew. My favorite!
If anyone is considering having watermelon for a 4th of july celebration, I say leave those huge relativly tasteless melons at the store and pick up some Assorted Melons.
I think that these assorted melons are going to make me an addict. I had the “Sweet Barcelona hybrid” last night and again today for lunch. They are so good!
